Description:
Messier 82 (also known as NGC 3034, Cigar Galaxy or M82) is a starburst galaxy approximately 12 million light-years away in the constellation Ursa Major. I captured this image using a150mm reflector telescope and a dedicated astrophotography camera. This an integrated image of 2 minutes exposures for over 6 hours of total exposure. Given the extreme distance from Earth the light I collected for this image is 12 million years old. Now that's an old picture!
