In addition to being the royal messenger to the Gods of Olympus, he was also known as the God of Intellect, Communication, Language & Translation. Mercury rules over shepherds, short-distance travel, trade & commerce. This God also had a bit of a dark side to him... He was also the God of Trickery & Mischief as well as God of Thieves.
